There’s Still Time to Buy the Shore House
As you enjoy your end-of-the-summer barbecues and make plans for the busy fall ahead, you might feel like your chance to buy a house at the Jersey shore has come and gone. But just because the summer season is coming to a close does not mean that it’s not still the perfect time to buy the shore house of your dreams. Spend the colder weekends nestled on a porch by the beach, as you get settled in your new vacation home, making it your own before the next busy summer season rolls back around.
After Labor Day Weekend, the Jersey shore towns are a whole lot quieter. However, when the temperature drops, the number of things to do around the Wildwoods does not. There’s a ton of Halloween decorating competitions in October and even a bonfire on the town’s large, free beach. You can attend a variety of festivals in the fall in Wildwood, including the Annual Irish Fall Festival, the Country Music Festival, Reggae Fest and many more. Stone Harbor hosts a fitness retreat and a vintage car show in October, and Avalon hosts its Arts and Seafood Festival. To help you get into the thankful spirit, Avalon also hosts a race in November called the Turkey Trot, which is always a hit.
Have you ever seen a blanket of snow cover the sand? Not many sights are more beautiful than the ones you’ll see during a winter stroll through Wildwood, on your way to the town’s annual Christmas tree lighting. Avalon residents wait all year for its late November Snowfest Saturday event in the Shopping District. During that weekend, there’s lots of live music, family activities and special sales at the shops.
You’re just in time to buy your shore house. Research by Realtor.com shows that the best time to buy a house is late September. Meanwhile, data shows the third quarter of the year has brought some surprises to the housing market, like a slight dip in mortgage rates compared to June and July of this year. In addition to that, economists at Bankrate are noticing a rise in inventory. The scales have begun to tip more in buyers’ favor. We’re headed toward a more normal market than we’ve seen during the past few months.
