Top 5 Home Upgrades For The Fall

Fall is the perfect time to give your living space a little upgrade before the winter months come rolling in.

Here are our top 5 home upgrades for the fall.

Tune Up Your Lawn Game

Get your lawn ready now so it will pop next year. Aerate and overseed this fall so you can enjoy the lush, green grass when the temperatures warm up again in the springtime. While you’re at it, plant some bulbs in your flower beds, too, so they have the winter to take hold. Come spring they’ll be in full bloom and you’ll be in love with the way your property looks.

Clean Your Gutters

Clogged gutters suck. If you can safely check and clean them yourself, go for it! If not, hire a professional. You won’t be upset with professionally cleaned gutters, we promise. Make sure you have properly installed gutter guards, too.

Give Your Roof Some TLC

Tiny cracks can lead to major issues so call a contractor before the rain and the snow start falling for real. Having a professional check in the fall is always a good idea. Have them fill any tiny openings or replace any loose shingles they find. Water loves to find a way in so solidifying your roof should be number one on this list.

Mind The Gaps (In Windows and Doors)

Heating bills skyrocket when temperatures drop. Make sure yours don’t go too high by patching windows and doors to reduce the number of places cold air can penetrate. You can try this yourself by feeling around for drafts, but a professional would be able to pinpoint and treat any problem areas fairly quickly.

Rethink Your Living Space

The first four on this list are all chores-y things but number five we saved for fun! Cold weather means more time indoors. So, make those indoor spaces the best they can be. Take a look and see if you can set up your home better. Eliminate clutter, paint an accent wall to warm up a room…think big!

Now is the time to do all of these — and more! — before the ice-cold temperatures make it more of a project than it already is. Reach out to Kim Cassidy Real Estate Team for our assessment of the best upgrades to your property.
